Slovenia – Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair

Vilenica International Literary Festival has joined the project ‘Slovenia – guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair’ for 2023.

We recognise this as a significant achievement and as an opportunity to raise the profile of Slovenian literature abroad. Being chosen as a guest of honour means that many different doors are opened for the country, leaing to many new opportunities for the country’s cultural sector, as well as for its many stories and writers. The Frankfurt Book Fair provides a springboard translations into major languages, including those of some of the most prominent international literary awards.

Starting in 2021 and until 2023, Vilenica will also host writers from German-speaking countries in order to strengthen the links between both cultures and to contribute to long-term recognition and acknowledgement of Slovenian writers and creativity in the German-speaking world and elsewhere.
