Threads of Vilenica
Photographic exhibition at the 32nd Vilenica International Literary Festival
Organized by the Higher Vocational College of the “Srečko Kosovel School Centre” Sežana and the Slovene Writers’ Association
NLB Gallery Avla, 3.10.–30.11.2017
This year saw the 32nd Vilenica International Literary Festival. The Sežana School Centre has been collaborating with the festival for many years – many of its secondary school students who study design have created, out of stone, the Crystal Vilenica award; those who study photography have prepared an exhibition to display photos they took throughout the festival. The theme of this year’s Vilenica was devoted to the relationship between literature and the world, how they interact with and transform each other, and for that reason the title of this photographic exhibition in “Niti Vilenice” or “Threads of Vilenica.” Also photographers create stories. Throughout the festival, these young photographers strove to catch the authors at their most genuine of moments, while remaining ever mindful of the fact that a reporter’s or documentarist’s task is also archival in nature. They observed and photographed the writers at readings, symposiums, presentations and on excursions, capturing them during vivid discussions, collegial conversations, as well as in those quiet moments when the writers withdrew into their own thoughts. The students showed an extraordinary sense of people and space, thus conjuring up the atmosphere of the festival. Their photos offer new perspectives and different viewpoints.
The photographs on display were taken by the following: Din Hajdarpašić, Tina Kosmos, Ana Rojc, Maja Oblak Rolli, Luka Škulj, Ivo Štefanič, Aleksander Zdjarski. The mentors of the photographers are Katarina Sadovski, MA, and the “docent” Jasna Klančišar, MA.
