Boris A. Novak (born in 1953) is a Slovenian poet, playwright, and translator, a Professor at the Department for Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, Vice-President of International PEN. In the nineties Novak organized humanitarian help for refugees from the former Yugoslavia and writers from Sarajevo. Among other books he has published poetry volumes Daughter of Memory, 1001 Verses, Coronation, The Master of Insomnia,  Alba, Echo, Glowing, Rites of Valediction, and SPM: Small Personal Mythology, tragedy Cassandra, poetry and plays for children, translations of Provencal troubadours, French poets Verlaine, Mallarmé, Valéry and Jabès, Irish poet Seamus Heaney, Flemish poet Paul van Ostaijen and novelist Monika van Paemel, Bosnian poet Josip Osti, works of literary history and theory Form, Love of the Language: The Reception of Romanic Poetic Forms in the Slovene Poetry, Po-ethics of the Form, Sound and Meaning, The Views on the French Symbolism, Salto Immortale: Studies about Poetry Translations.
