“The 2009 Cuirt International Festival of Literature, Poetry Grand Slam, was once again a huge success, with a packed house and people turned away at the door. 13 slam finalists fought it out and from a strong line up, Stephen James Smith, from Dublin emerged as the winner and will go to Slovenia. Guest poet from Belorussia, Andrej Khadanovich won the hearts of the audience, with his vocal gymnastics – performing in his own language, with translations from slam MC Pete Mullineaux. The response was tremendous and no doubt Andrej will back in Galway again,” informed us from Ireland.
