Critics at Vilenica 2017
The Slovene Writers’s Association will host two literary critics from Slovenia for the entire duration of the Vilenica festival. The critics will be following the festival events, interview authors, write articles, and report about the festival.
Diana Pungeršič, Slovenia
Diana Pungeršič (1984) is a literary critic, moderator, literary translator from Czech and Slovak language, and also a translator to Slovak language. She studied Slovene and Slovak language with literature and sociology of culture. For the translations of Slovak poetry, she was nominated for the Lirikonov zlat award in 2010 and 2013, and in 2016 she received the Radojka Vrančič Prize for the translation of the novel Samko Tale’s Cemetery Book by Daniela Kapitáňova. She publishes critiques, interviews, reflections, and translations in established literary magazines, at Radio Slovenia’s Third Channel, as well as at various web portals. She moderates literary events and a book club.
Maja Šučur, Slovenia
Maja Šučur (1989) is a literary critic and cultural journalist at the Dnevnik newspaper. Her literary criticism, also published in the Literatura and Dialogi journals as well as the ludliteratura.si web portal, won her this year’s Stritar award for up-and-coming literary critic. She regularly organises and moderates literary events such as critical debates at the international Pranger – Gathering of poets, critics and translators of poetry. Since 2014 she is a coordinator at the Society of the Slovenian Literary Critics where she is responsible for overseeing the “Kritiško sito” award selection process and the organisation of the international critics’ symposium.
