Ana Marwan, born in 1980 in Murska Sobota, moved to Vienna in 2005 after completing her studies in Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Her literary path began in 2008 when she received the Schreiben zwischen den Kulturen literary award.

She writes both long and short prose in German and Slovenian. In 2019, her debut novel Der Kreis des Weberknechts was published by Otto Müller Verlag. Her second novel, Zabubljena, written in Slovenian, was published by Beletrina in 2021 and received the Critics’ Award (Kritiško sito) for the best book of the year. In 2022, she was awarded the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize at the 46th Days of German-Language Literature for her short story Wechselkröte. Her collection of prose miniatures, Sei Erich, was published by Thurnhof Verlag in 2024.

From 2023 to 2024, she served as editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Literatur und Kritik, and since 2026 she has been the curator for literature at Vienna’s Kultursommer festival.
