Authors in residence

On the grounds of the project Crossroads of European Literature, which has been awarded the EU’s Culture Programme 2007-2013 grant, the Slovene Writers’ Association is organizing a possibility of residential stay in August and September for three writers from Italy and Ireland. Authors are invited to come and write in a foreign environment and thus bring a foreign influence into their literature. We are offering a one-month stay in the SWA’s apartment in the capital city of Ljubljana, in the SWA’s cottage by the beautiful Bled Lake, in the Writers’ Home in Beli Križ and in Layer’s House in Kranj, the city of France Prešeren, the greatest Slovene poet. All these places are very inspiring for creating new works. In collabortion with the European Department of the Gimanzija Koper Grammar School, the Vilenica Festival will stage a special reading by all three authors. The students will translate their texts under the guidance of Ines Cergol and meet with the authors during a short pre-festival literary translation workshop. Cristina Galvin and Roberto Nassi will resident in Slovenia for one month, while Tiziano Broggiato will join them for the Festival. Authors will appear at the literary reading in Koper on the opening day of the Festival.
